In the western Julian Alps close to the border with Slovenia runs Rio del Lago in the valley by the same name. The walk up there was memorable, though not without a splash or two.
This is my entry for Jo’s Monday Walk. Pay her a visit to see more beautiful impressions from her trip to Portugal.
Beautiful soothing sights and sounds, Paula. π I love that when I switched to the map the music went on playing.
I often wonder if I should include a map on mine, but then I think that if anyone was going to attempt the walk they would Google it anyway. But it’s nice to see the location so thank you for the kind thought. I’m just going to choose a rock to sit on to dabble my feet.
Thanks, Paula! π
I want more photos. This is a beauty. I don’t think I’ve seen your water before – both movement and clarity. I love the brown patch in the foreground. You keep showing me what glories I missed when I was in the vicinity.
Thank you, Meg, but you know I post sparingly π I am sorry if I don’t visit very often, I am getting busier by the minute and still haven’t started preparing for my trip to Italy next week.
I know you post sparingly! And you always leave me hungering for more, although I love the sparsity of your posts: an elegance I can’t begin to aspire too.
Absolutely no obligation to visit, although I very much enjoy your company when you do. Relish Italy. Maiden voyage for the new camera?
I love being in your company too, just explaining I’m fretting to finish everything before I go, and I want to give full attention to everything I do. I hope we can still be friends when I come back on 12th October :). Yes, you put it beautifully – it will be her maiden voyage :D. Thank you, Meg.
back to “Getting bananas” or whatever it is: two useful words in Swahili:
Kwaheri sassa
(Au revoir maintenant; see you soon!)

Oh, I don’t blame you at all Paula. It’s so beautiful there and water is always so inviting, especially something like this. Stunning capture. π β₯ Hugs β₯
I was happy to share it with you. Imagine, there was not a soul near by – just hubby and me. I know you would love it there. Thank you for the compliment hon. *hugs*
Hello Sue π Shouldn’t you be cycling now? This one is in Italy, but far from where you are now π (don’t waste your time here just now, go have fun, have some gelatto) xx
I’m amused that it reminds you of the sea π It is a river actually. If you want to see where it is, there is a link to google map in the above text. Thank you very much, for your visit. I’ve enjoyed it π
What a beautiful photo Paula looks such a lovely tranquil place in the mountains π I have been to the Dolomites but this looks more remote! Have just been reading through your blog and very much enjoyed it (I have come via Restless Jo’s wonderful blog and her Monday Walks!). Will enjoy reading more best wishes Rosemary π
Looks like a nice walk; very clear water. See you!

I still think that you should document the flood. You might get some nice shots.
