Black & White Sunday: Negative Space
Negative Space – a space that is not there or the space that you don’t like?
It can be either, but speaking in terms of photography it is a space that isolates the subject of a photo, or complements it, or draws attention to it. To see more examples of negative space in photography please see my guest’s post.
This is my interpretation of negative space.

I hope you get enough sleep. It’s not nice having to step out in the freezing cold so early in the morning.

I do. I go to bed early Paula (9pm). The early morning allows me to exercise a bit and get myself ready for the day.

I sleep just an hour longer than you do, but go to bed so much later. I don’t like mornings.

Very interesting challenge, the candle light vs the black really works, great photo!

They are mind-blowing, you know. All three of your examples. Yesterday I was crazy about the second and now about the third (I wonder why). The third one looks like infrared.

Your work deserves to be “studied”. I don’t have a chance to this often cause of my busy schedule and I am often sidetracked responding to bloggers that are really persistent in commenting. Did you capture it as infrared or you managed the look in the post processing?

I processed the image in Photoshop. Unfortunately I no longer have that program – it was on my old computer that crashed last year.

Great picture, Paula. I always try to consider negative space in its own right, creating an own form or shape. And I must say I find the black (“background”) shape in your picture very pleasing. Good one!

I agree with that Paula. I did a top 5 on my bench challenge, but it does take a lot of time so I haven’t done that this time round. I always browse the comments anyway and visit blogs that way and I am sure others do the same. Hope you are keeping well 🙂
