Today you are asked to post a photo of an expression. We can talk about human expressions (emotional), or behavioural expressions in animal (those can be hilarious), or any kind of expression that comes to your mind. What you can see below is a part of the sculpture by the most famous Croatian sculptor Ivan Meštrović that I showcased before here.
If you want to participate in Black & White Sunday photo challenge, make sure to:
make a photo post in black and white before next Sunday 6 November
link it to this challenge post and tag it #blackandwhitesunday
leave me your links in the comment section bellow.
Please, check out the entries for this challenge. There are some wonderful contributions:
No, not of happy thoughts, but I find sad faces more expressive than ones of joy. Thank you, Debbie, for going into so much trouble to find the perfect shot 🙂
Thanks, Hilary. I find it a masterpiece. I had to go back for another shot of the central figure with a faster and longer lens. It took time to blend out the background that was meddling.
Contemplation?! 🙂

A perfect crop to centre the head and capture the thoughtful, not altogether happy look. A 3D photo.

This is not a crop. It would never look like this if it were a crop. I shot it with a 100 m lens.

Oops. Deepest apologies. I commented out of ignorance and my own non-expert practice.

Oh, Meg! Not sure I would have done any better, and I’m more used to playing about with cameras!!

No need to apologise, but I have to explain what I did. No, not a happy look. It’s a sad figure of an old man contemplating what his life has been.

A fine musical accompaniment to this deeply sad and contemplative expression. And finely shot. AND also lots of food for thought 🙂

A face full of thought, and not necessarily happy ones. It is a great shot of this well, Paula
I seemed to be out of expressions when I had a think about this post last night, and could find very few that worked in monochrome, but at last I’ve got one for you. Not a cheery one though: https://travelwithintent.com/2016/10/30/other-mermaid-havrue-copenhagen-carl-nielsen-black-diamond/

Lovely sculpture, I remember this. I see deep concentration with a touch of sadness.
